Information Department of Telecommunications [DoT] has come up with Mobile connectivity in Left Wing Extremism [LWE] affected areas-Phase2 with a ticket size of 2211.17 INR Crores. This project in Telecommunication & Telecom Services sub-sector involves The current status of the project is Not Applicable Economic/Social Impact of the Project Agreements have been signed with M/s Reliance Jio Infocom Limited on 28.09.2021 for the states of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Odisha and Maharashtra and with M/s Bharti Airtel Limited on 01.10.2021 for the states of Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal for provision of 4G based mobile services at 2,542 MHA identified tower locations in LWE affected areas. The roll-out period of the project was 18 months from the date of signing of the contract with implementing agencies i.e. 27.03.2023 for M/s RJIL and 31.03.2023 for M/s BAL. The roll period has been further extended till 27.09.2023 for M/s RJIL and 30.09.2023 for M/s BAL as per the term and conditions of the Agreement. Till June-2023, Survey work for 2338 locations have been completed and 965 locations have been deleted due to availability of existing network coverage and 583 mobile towers and associated infrastructure have been installed and commissioned covering 608 locations in the State Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Telangana and Odisha. Further, 218 more locations have been added in the scheme on the recommendation of MHA against the deleted location. Survey work is under process for these locations.
