Description | Stroke is a leading cause of death or disability in adults in the program region. A fast response and diagnosis is key to ensure the best possible treatment outcome as every minute costs valuable brain capacity and decreases chances for an independent life after a stroke. There are several challenges, such as long distances between patient and hospitals and cooperation between e.g. hospitals that may prolong the time from stroke to treatment. This network project is a collaboration between Zealand University Hospital and the University Hospital Schleswig-Holstein and will analyze the possibility of a Mobile Stroke Unit (MSU): An ambulance equipped with a CT-scanner to diagnose patients in the ambulance and start treatment faster. |
