We are investing $25 million towards the energy retrofitting of a 220,000 square-foot commercial building in Kingston, Ontario, originally built in the 1940s.Through the CIB’s financing, the commercial space will be upgraded to reduce carbon emissions by more than 80 per cent or approximately 2,000 tonnes annually.Renewing existing and aged utility infrastructure will reduce carbon emissions and result in the creation of a modern, resilient and healthier building. It will also help attract prominent tenants to region, advancing economic opportunities.Benefits of CIB InvolvementThe CIB works with private sector real estate owners to modernize their infrastructure assets. The CIB’s upfront financing of the capital costs of building retrofits creates jobs, long-term energy savings and a low-carbon future. Our financing will propel the project forward and enable a greener facility for years to come.
