"Modern Odyssey focuses on the journey of volunteer teams over the course of 3 years, as they work to promote solidarity among individual and communities of vulnerable and disadvantaged groups. We aim to do this by visiting a different organisation each week of the programme and support the organisations in developing their initiatives through hands-on work, green practices and other community development tools. We will visit both urban areas (i.e. city initiatives) and rural areas (i.e. eco-communities). In the first year, the team will focus on the theme of understanding and supporting migrants, refugees, and asylum seekers. In the second year, the focus will shift to addiction recovery and the team will work with individuals seeking to overcome substance abuse. In the final year, the team will support individuals with mental and physical disabilities in their efforts to achieve greater health and wellness. The goal of the project is not only to foster unity within the communities but also to provide a sense of belonging through the idea of ""coming home"", in a world where isolation and feeling lost is a prominent challenge. The Volunteering Teams will offer young people the opportunity to develop confidence, critical thinking, and become active citizens in society. As well as, learning to be part of a close-knit team, and taking care of oneself mentally and physically. "
