Modernisation and Expansion of Eastern Refinery Limited (ERL-2)

The project involves building a second unit of the Eastern Refinery to augment Bangladesh's crude-oil-refining capacity. The new refinery unit will double the country's refining capacity from 1.5 million tonnes to 3.0 million tonnes per year, increasing the combined capacity to 4.5 million tonnes and meeting nearly half of the country's projected demand by 2030. The project includes integration of AI and large language model technology to automate billing and operational systems, aiming to reduce human error and increase efficiency. It is designed to process various types of crude oil, reducing dependence on Middle-Eastern crude.
