Description
Description | The project aims to upgrade the railway infrastructure of the Praha-Bubny Railway Station and the connecting railway section to the new Railway Stop Praha-Výstaviště as part of the connection Prague – Václav Havel Airport and further to Kladno, the largest city of the Central Bohemia region. The project is located on the Orient/East- Med corridor. It is part of the Global Project addressing the reconstruction of the Prague Railway Junction. Railway lines in the Prague railway junction run mostly radially and connect Prague with other cities in the Czech Republic and neighbouring countries of the European Union. The railway section for the project consists of two railway lines: the first one (No. 120 Praha - Kladno – Rakovník), on the core network, represents part of the future connection to the airport whereas the second one (No. 090 Praha - Vraňany – Děčín) contributes to the comprehensive network. The objectives of the project are as follows: - improve the technical conditions and parameters of 1.871 km of railway lines (1.410 km on line 120 and 0.461 km on line 90) in the Praha-Bubny - Praha-Výstaviště section, with increase in the capacity (from single to double tracks) and in the maximum line speed (from the current 30-40 km/h to 60-80 km/h), - improve interoperability and safety of operations, with the elimination of level crossings - enhance modal shift, improving public transport-rail links and transport services in the area - shorten travel times - eliminate the negative impact of diesel traction on the environment, through the electrification of the lines. The implementation of the project and achievement of its objectives will result in the completion of another section of the connection to the Václav Havel Airport Prague and to Kladno, improving the traffic and transport services and increasing accessibility and safety. |
