Modoc 139 Drainage Project on State Route 139

This drainage rehabilitation project is located near Newell in Modoc County on State Route 139 at various locations from the Lassen County line to the Siskiyou County line. The project aims to repair or replace multiple culverts that have aging inserts or separated joints. It will improve drainage facilities to help prevent culvert failures, which can cause flooding and expensive roadway damage. As part of the project, crews will use culvert liners to reinforce various existing culverts, replace some culverts with new and larger ones, widen road shoulders, and install Rock Slope Protection at various inlets and outlets, as well as headwalls and Flared End Sections to improve flow capacity.
