The MISD project aims to create modular, sustainable data centers across Europe using physical containers as modular units. These data centers are designed to be distributed, flexible, and sustainable, deploying compute power in containers located where renewable energy and existing infrastructure are available. The project focuses on decoupling compute from data storage, with data remaining in regional data centers while compute is distributed. The project also involves developing software to coordinate the distributed infrastructure efficiently.
