Description | The Mohra Power Project is a historic hydroelectric plant on the Jhelum River in Boniyar, Uri sector of Baramulla district, North Kashmir. Commissioned in 1905 as a run-of-the-river hydroelectric plant with an initial capacity of around 5 MW, it was damaged in 1992 floods and became defunct. The Jammu and Kashmir State Power Development Corporation (JKSPDC) has initiated steps to renovate, modernize, and upgrade the project as part of the region's plan to increase power capacity from 3,540 MW to around 11,000 MW by 2035. |
