Description
Description | The project involves the development of a modern medical training complex and associated facilities for the College of Health Sciences at Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) in Eldoret, Kenya, under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) framework. Planned on a 15-acre site, the facility will include advanced academic buildings, skills laboratories, student accommodation, and complementary amenities designed to support high-quality healthcare education and address the country’s shortage of trained health professionals. MTRH was established with a mandate that includes receiving referral cases from other healthcare facilities, providing infrastructure for medical training and research, offering education and skills development for healthcare professionals, and contributing to national health sector planning as a referral institution. The College of Health Sciences (CHS) currently occupies a relatively small 1.5-acre (5,713 m²) site within the MTRH grounds. Despite serving more than 750 students, the existing CHS campus has only 10 classrooms, along with a single library, one skills laboratory, and one computer lab. The Contracting Authority wishes to achieve some of the objectives through the Project, which include the following:To promote and maintain the excellence of MTRH in teaching and research through diversification and strengthening of teaching and learning evaluations for all faculty and students;Contribute towards meeting the demand for specialised health care workers in Kenya and globally through specialised healthcare training and research;Expand and promote innovation in the use of information and communication; andMaintain, improve and expand infrastructure and equipment through a multi-agency collaborative approach. |
