Description

Description

- Replacement of condemned bridge structure - Open access to recreational, multi-modal trail connecting multiple communities - Bridge replacement also opens up safe boating route under bridge The scope of the project includes the removal of the existing 57m long, 16 span, Timber Trestle bridge on timber piles and replacement with a new Bailey style pre-engineered structure supported by pre-engineered abutments. The works will include excavation and removal of existing components above and below water line; replacement with pre-engineered components above waterline; rip rap slope protection; erosion and sediment control; and modifications and improvements to trail approaches. The replacement of the bridge will safely link the multi-use trail. Currently users are illegally traveling on Provincial Highway #62 to other points on the trail. This poses a serious risk to vehicular and trail traffic as well as pedestrians. There are upwards of 5,500 users of the trail system in this area. This trail connects communities and users from the south to the north. This provides an economic benefit to the Village of Madoc as well as many other small communities.
