Description
Description | The Mojave Groundwater Bank project involves converting an old buried natural-gas pipeline into a water line to pump groundwater out of the desert and sell it to buyers in Southern California and Arizona. The project has been approved by the Bureau of Land Management on a 50-year grant and is done in partnership with the Lytton Rancheria tribe. Critics argue that the project would pump groundwater at a rate up to 25 times faster than natural recharge, potentially drying up desert springs and harming wildlife and tribal sites. |
