Description | Moldovagaz was a joint-venture between Gazprom (51%), the government of Moldova (35%) and the administration of the Dnestr region (14%). Founded in April 1999, it united the entire Moldova gas industry. Gazprom paid US$ 60 million for its shares (Gazprom wrote off US$ 47 million of Moldova's debt and US$ 13 million of the administration of the Dnestr region's debt). The Moldova government planed to sell-off its remaining 35% in 2000. Moldovagaz was expected to transit 20 billion of cubic meters per year (3 billion for Moldova consumption and the rest for western countries' consumption). In 2007, subsidiary companies of Moldovagaz invested USD 5.3 million to build and put in commission over 45 km of gas pipes as well as a gas a gas-filling compressor station in Drochia town.
