MOLENA WALKING TRAIL PROJECT

This project constructs a walking trail in Molena, in Pike County. Construction includes the aesthetic revitalization of a portion of Georgia Highway 109 east of the Georgia Highway 18 intersection. As a part of the project, some of the existing sidewalk and stand-up curb and gutter will need to be demolished. Storm drainage structures, signs, and water meter boxes will need to be temporarily removed and then relocated to facilitate construction. Georgia Highway 109 will be transformed into a new streetscape, which includes 420 square yards of sidewalk with brick pavers, 545 linear feet of 30" stand up curb and gutter, handicap ramps, tapered driveway entrances, pedestrian cross walks, lighting fixtures, tree planters, and decorative storm drain grates, all of which conform to GDOT specifications. The purpose of the project is to enhance the small community while accommodating pedestrian traffic around some of the local downtown businesses.
