Description | Ormat was awarded the concession to rehabilitate and operate the Momotombo power plant during a 15-year period. The geothermal power plant was originally designed to have a capacity of 70 MW, but, due to lack of resources, it has been producing only 10 MW. Ormat will invest US$ 81.4 million as equity, which has been guaranteed by MIGA. During the life of the project, Ormat will pay approximately US$ 11 million in taxes and procure 90% of the goods and services locally.
