Description | Mon Power and Potomac Edison plan to build a 1,200 megawatt combined cycle gas turbine plant at the Fort Martin site outside Morgantown, West Virginia, adjacent to their coal-fired Fort Martin plant and solar facility. The project includes 70 MW of solar capacity at three other sites. The plant will use gas and steam combustion turbines to generate electricity and is intended to balance reliability, affordability, and environmental impacts while adapting to market conditions. Construction is planned to start as early as 2027 with operation by December 31, 2031, pending Public Service Commission approval. |
