Description | The Monarch Compute Campus in Mason County, West Virginia, is a data center campus planned to host up to 1.35 GW of AI compute capacity for Microsoft, supported by Caterpillar's G3500 natural gas generator sets providing 2 GW of onsite power generation. The project aims to provide faster power access by using onsite generation due to grid access and transmission constraints, with a target operational date in the first half of 2028. The campus includes the first state-certified AI microgrid in the U.S. and has expansion potential beyond 8 GW. |
