Description

Description

The project “Monastery in the city. City in the Monastery" addresses the challenges facing the preservation and promotion of the common cultural heritage, and its aim is to strengthen cross-border capabilities, such as the integration of residents, the overcoming of language barriers, the facilitation of knowledge transfer, the promotion of equality in access to culture. The main objective of the project is to initiate, and then to provide the results of the research on the history of the cities of the Polish-German border area, which will allow the formation of a coherent vision of history, the strengthening of cultural identification with the region and the development of the Euroregion Pomerania brand as the cultural region. To this end, cooperation between the castle of the Pomeranian Dukes in Szczecin and the Dominican Monastery in Prenzlau in the area of active promotion of knowledge about Pomerania and the Uckermarck, about the history of Stettin and Prenzlau, as well as the adoption of ambitious plans for the research activities. The scientific conferences and the monastery market in Prenzlau will allow people to get to know better, the flow of information between the scientific circles and the inhabitants of the region, and the planned publications, the translation of the 1613 chronicle of Paul Friedeborn “Historical description of the city of Old Szczecin in Pomerania” and the scientific-forming publications of the Domincan monastery Prenzlau will allow the expansion of the population interested in history, including those living outside the Pomerania Euroregion. The beneficiaries of the project will all be interested in history, tourism, historical literature, the detection of the past and the creative nucleation of these areas in schools, tourism, museums and universities. The project therefore has a high application value. By freely distributing the publications printed as part of the project and making them available in public libraries, the impact of its results will be maintained in the long term after its completion. The partner institutions and scientific circles in Poland and Germany will also benefit from the proceeds of the project. The concept of the project presupposes close cooperation between the two project partners, because the objectives set can only be achieved using a variety of tools that work in the context of cross-border cooperation. In order to achieve the project objectives, the exchange of experience, the mutual assistance of the project partners, professional and organisational support, the formation and development of contacts between cultural institutions and scientific circles, as well as the deepening of the flow of infromation are equally important. The project integrates with good practices in a border area. The unmistakable contribution to these are the completed translational tasks, which include not only the contemporary texts, but also the important historical text (from 1613) and its scientific work. Since activities of this kind have not been undertaken so far, these tasks can be declared innovative, which opens a new phase in the search for the new methods of acquiring knowledge about common heritage and Polish-German cooperation. By using the suggestions emanating from the text of Paul Friedeborn, the preparation of the guide and the establishment of the tourist route by Szczecin would be from the time of Paul Friedeborn, especially through the sites that no longer exist.
