Monnet European Challenge

Our “Monnet European Challenge” project is aimed at the will to educate respectful citizens, proud of democratic values; citizens capable of facing the big challenges they will find in their adult lives by means of creativity and critical spirit. Besides, we have a compromise with an active and participatory focus on teaching, based upon the quality of education and meaningful learning. We must not forget that our students will soon become adults and their education is fundamental to the very survival of democracy, with the development of a feeling of belonging to the UE as a decisive aspect of education; a feeling that will be hard to acquire if they are not familiar with the Union and its values. We have splitted our activities into five work packages. The first package is dedicated to management and coordination activities of the project. The second one is dedicated to activities connected to fairs, cultural working days and debates, for example, by creating our own European Parliament and political representatives, exchange of experiences by Erasmus students and different exhibitions and culinary events which will allow us to know Europe better. The third one is dedicated to the creation of self-made curricular materials to support the classroom, creating a comic and an animated short film dealing with Europe in order to familiarise the students with it, and a creation workshop to make board games and an escape room to deepen in its knowledge. A fourth package is dedicated to teacher formation and students stay in Strasbourg and Brussels. And finally, activities aimed at the impact and broadcasting, such as a Radio Program: Europe and Extremadura, a promotional short film about the importance of Democratic Voting in the European Elections and the creation of a Blog for the project, where all activities carried out will be published. We are willing to create an impact at local, national and international levels by sharing these educational resources.
