Description | The Monson Developmental Center property, a former state hospital campus, is being readied for redevelopment after 15 years of abandonment. The new zoning plan approved allows for the construction of up to 600 housing units along with light commercial and retail over a 20-year buildout. The state sold 100 acres of the 675-acre site to Westmass Development Corp. for $1, which is responsible for $20 million of demolition and asbestos remediation work to be completed by July 2027. No long-abandoned buildings on the campus will survive. |
