Month of the sports clubs

"In 2020, we were forced to cancel the national ""Sports Club Month"" event and all the underlying initiatives because of the strict measures surrounding COVID-19. However, in 2021 we would like to support this action again with great enthusiasm. To this end, we are again working closely with the sports services that are in direct contact with the local sports clubs. With the Month of Sports Clubs we want to promote sports in clubs throughout Flanders and at the same time put the spotlight on the offer of local sports clubs. After all, playing sports in a club is still the best guarantee of lifetime sports practice. With this action we focus on children and youth between 5 and 25 years old. Through the broad promotion and the accessible offer during the action month, we also hope to reach the less sporty Flemish people. According to the new concept of the action (which was defined in 2020 in cooperation with the sports services), the sports services themselves determine what role they want to take during the action. The principle ""Do more = receive more support"" is central here. In 2021, 230 sports services will participate. The sports clubs' registrations still run until September, but we expect about 2.000 participating sportsclubs Besides the national action, we also want to promote club sports to the youth with 'Bring your sports club to school'. On Wednesday, September 29, we call on all schoolchildren to go to school dressed in the outfit of their sports club or sport; they act as ambassadors. We expect about 1.000 schools to participate. Finally, we also foresee a third edition of the action 'European exchange of sports clubs', in which we encourage Flemish sports clubs to organize an exchange or cooperation with a European sports club. To promote the action we provide different promotional materials depending on the action and the target group."
