Montney Natural Gas Development and LNG Export Infrastructure

The Montney Formation in British Columbia and Alberta is a major natural gas resource area with plans for extensive development including up to 32,000 new wells by 2050 to support liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports. The project includes natural gas extraction, processing plants, pipeline transportation via the Coastal GasLink pipeline, and LNG export facilities such as the LNG Canada plant at Kitimat, Cedar LNG plant near Kitimat, Woodfibre LNG near Vancouver, and the planned Ksi Lisims LNG plant in northern BC. Additionally, the Ridley Island Energy Export Facility (REEF) near Prince Rupert is being built to export natural gas liquids (NGLs).
