The athletic field located at Moorlands Park is available for use by eligible athletic organizations. The field is primarily intended to serve youth (ages 12 and under) baseball, softball, fastpitch, t-ball, and other sports that use a baseball diamond and bases for the field of play. Fall soccer practices and games for youth (ages 6 and under) may be allowed. The city owns and maintains the athletic field, however during Moorlands Elementary School hours, the field is reserved for school use only. The picnic shelter at Moorlands Park is not available for reservations at this time; it may be used on a first come, first serve basis. In order to maintain the field, a rental fee is charged. The current fee is $22/hour. Athletic clubs may request up to a maximum 50% reduction if the club has at least 20% of eligible participants. Sales of concessions, tournaments, sports camps, and non-sporting events require a separate Special Events Permit. Eligible organizations (organized athletic leagues) may submit applications for field use as follows: For January 1st through June 30th Athletic Field Use Period: Field reservation application period: the prior October 1st through October 31st Field scheduling assignments will be made no later than December 1st For July 1st through December 31st Athletic Field Use Period: Field reservation application period: April 1st through April 30th Field scheduling assignments will be made no later than June 1st **Following approval of reservations submitted during the application periods, unscheduled dates will be available on a first come, first serve basis. Organizations are still required to submit an application for approval no less than two weeks prior to the requested use date. This allows time for application processing, invoice issuance and payment, insurance form submittal and maintenance scheduling. In the event that the field is closed by the City for weather or maintenance, users with approved reservations will be contacted by City maintenance staff as soon as possible.
