Description
Description | The project involves replacing the existing water treatment system and end-of-service-life water treatment equipment including expansion of water storage facilities in partnership with the Village of Kenosee, located adjacent to the park. Moose Mountain’s existing water treatment system has reached the end of its life cycle and requires replacement with new equipment and controls. The park intends to utilize an existing building on site and convert it to serve as the new water plant. Initial planning is considering either traditional greens and filtration or membrane systems. However, the final water treatment solution will be determined upon further evaluation of the options and completion of the engineering design. In order to meet total water storage requirements of twice average daily consumption for both the village of Kenosee and Moose Mountain Provincial Park, the addition of approximately 100,000L of potable water storage is required. The ministry is in discussions with the village of Kenosee to develop this capacity by adding the required storage volumes to their planned reservoir construction. Work will ensure system compliance with regulatory limits for manganese and upcoming changes to THM limits associated with groundwater sources. Minor modifications to the water distribution system’s underground piping may be involved as well. The project will meet all federal and provincial regulatory requirements. The ministry would like to proceed with design in 2021-22 and all construction work will be publicly tendered (ie: not sole-sourced). |
