Morocco - Railway Rehabilitation Project

The railway rehabilitation project is part of the overall transport sector aiming to ensure an optimal distribution of inter-regional trade in Morocco. The railways transport phosphates, which are Morocco's main export product and the main source of foreign exchange for the economy. The restructuring of ONCF, by creating the conditions for efficient and reliable transport, contributes to the promotion of exports and the competitiveness of Moroccan phosphate production. The investment as conceived will reduce the economic incidents and losses suffered by the railway operator and will generate significant added value for the national economy. All components of the project will be implemented over 60 months; the ADB component of the project will run for 48 months from loan approval by the Bank.
