Morocco - Social Protection Governance Support Programme

The Support Program to the Social Protection Governance (PAGPS) is a sectoral budget support operation to the Government of Morocco. It aims to improve the social protection of Moroccan citizens, through (i) strengthening the social protection governance mechanism and optimizing resource use on the one hand, and (ii) extending social protection coverage and improving service quality on the other hand. This new program succeeds to the previous support for the reform of basic medical coverage. This project will specifically set up the legislative and regulatory bases for improved social protection, and support the Moroccan Government’s initiatives through a sectoral policy dialogue in coordination with other development partners in Morocco. The program will ultimately contribute to further progress in reducing poverty and social disparities, through improved and more equitable access to social protection benefits, and more efficient and sustainable social protection.
