Description

Description

This project concerns the design, construction and operation of the “Tekcim” greenfield cement plant in Ouled Ghanem, in the region of El Jadida, with a capacity of 1.11 mtpa of clinker and 1.4 mtpa of cement. Tekcim is sponsored by Société Générale des Travaux du Maroc (SGTM), the largest Moroccan group involved in construction and civil engineering works. Tekcim’s limestone and clay quarries are located on the same site (145km from Casablanca), with estimated reserves of 73Mt allowing for more than 36 years of production. The Jorf Lasfar port (located 26 km from the plant) and the economic capital of the Kingdom, Casablanca (main domestic market), can be reached from the plant through the existing road network. The port will allow easy access for importing raw materials and exporting to regional markets in Sub-Saharan Africa (Cote d’Ivoire, Burkina Faso, Niger, etc…) where 25% of clinker production is expected to be sold. 75% of the plant’s clinker output will be for local consumption and transformation to cement.
