Morocco – Fifth Drinking Water Supply Project

The present intervention concerns the Fifth Drinking Water Supply Project. It aims to provide water to urban populations and to the country’s industries in satisfactory quantity and quality. This project is part of the intervention program of the African Development Bank in the development of the drinking water supply sector in Morocco. It's also intended to satisfy the supply of water to douars (or villages) near water transmission mains. In some cities, including Fez, it's expected the extension of water distribution to new neighbourhoods and increased pressure to the higher levels of the system. The project comprises a series of sub-projects: extension of treatment plants at Berkane and Fèz, implementation of a new supply system for the towns of Berrechid, Khémisset, Meknès, Oujda, Salé, Settat and Tiflet, a sub-project for distribution in the town of Fèz, a training component as well as technical assistance for project implementation.
