Description
Description | The FC measure is part of the second phase of the Moroccan Integrated Wind Programme and includes the construction of two wind farms at the Jbel Lahdid and Midelt sites with an installed capacity of around 450 MW. The FC module objective is the cost-efficient, ecologically and socially acceptable production of electrical energy. This will reduce climate-damaging CO2 emissions and Morocco's dependence on imported energy raw materials. It will also help to meet the increasing demand for energy. The development policy objective is to support Morocco in introducing a development model that minimises the negative impacts on the environment and climate and takes precautions for climate change. The project sponsor is the Office National de lElectricité et de lEau Potable (ONEE). The implementation of the measure is planned as a public-private partnership (PPP). The investment costs of the FC measure are estimated at EUR 523 million. The measure is financed jointly with the European Commission (EC) and the European Investment Bank (EIB) within the framework of the European Neighbourhood Investment Facility (NIF) under the leadership of KfW. Significant contributions are also provided through ONEE, the project company and commercial loans. The FC contribution consists of two low-interest loans from several tranches totalling EUR 200 million (of which EUR 130 million is within the scope of the contract, which is also financed from this project number). |
