MotivAction is a transnational project between seven countries (Bulgaria, Cyprus, France, Greece, Moldova, Poland, Portugal). It will implement whistleblowing policies at national levels to promote, protect and handle alerts against the manipulation of sports competitions. The project will gather 7 national platforms, sport stakeholders representative organisations and an international and multidisciplinary group of experts. They will collaborate to better understand how to empower athletes, referees and coaches to report manipulation, before designing and implementing national action plans for effective reporting mechanisms and whistleblowing policies at national levels. Both the preparation phase and the implementation, in the context of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, will create operational expertise and good practices on the promotion and management of whistleblowing behaviour that will be disseminated far beyond the 7 partner countries. In total, more than 30,000 actors of sport competition will be impacted. MotivAction will serve as a legal and operational laboratory to improve the monitoring capacity of national platforms, to strengthen our monitoring tools for detecting anomalies in gaming operations and thus to preserve the integrity of sports competitions.
