Description
Description | The project addresses the reconstruction of the Šmejkalka motorway bridge located on the motorway D1 section Prague - Brno at km 23.868 between the exit 21 Mirošovice and the exit 29 Hvězdonice. It is part of a Global Project covering the modernisation of the Czech D1 motorway located on the Orient East-¬Med and Rhine-Danube Core Network Corridors. The existing bridge of 262.5 meters is in a poor technical condition and does not meet the load-bearing capacity requirements for both civilian freight transport and military movements. Due to its inadequate technical parameters and deteriorated condition, the Šmejkalka motorway bridge represents a bottleneck on the motorway D1 which significantly limits the civilian and military mobility. The project covers reconstruction works on the Šmejkalka bridge and on the adjacent section of the motorway D1 from km 23.350 to km 24.350 in order to adapt the infrastructure to civilian-defence dual use requirements by increasing the bridge’s load-bearing capacity (bridge gross weight) from the current 48 tonnes to 180 tonnes and the width of the bridge (to ensure max. cargo width) from the current 25.18 meters to 33 meters. Additional works include mainly the reconstruction of the road pavement, installation of new crash barriers, installation of a noise protection wall and the renovation of the existing drainage system. The project aims to adapt parts of the TEN-T for the dual use of the transport infrastructure with a view to improving both civilian and military mobility. |
