Description | The Motuo Hydropower Station is a hydropower dam project in China, planned to be the world's largest hydropower dam with a generation capacity of more than 60 GW. It is being built on the Yarlung Tsangpo river, where the river drops more than 6,500 feet in a span of 31 miles, offering huge hydropower potential. The project includes several tunnels through the mountain to divert the river and aims to produce 300 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity annually. The power generated will be used in Tibet and other areas of China, especially in eastern cities. |
