Description
Description | The rehabilitation of the Mount Coffee Hydropower Plant in Liberia aims at restoring the plant’s capacity to its pre-war status of 64 MW. It will be a key part of the CLSG grid developed under the West African Power Pool (WAPP), allowing Liberia to export electricity. It will also create the stabilising generation point (voltage stability) for the transmission line being implemented under the CLSG Project. The project is in operation since December 2016. The EU-AITF TA grant was used by the West African Power Pool for the funding of consultancy services to undertake technical studies and preparation of bidding documents as well as an Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) and a Resettlement Action Plan (RAP) for the Project. The Technical Studies and the ESIA study were completed in November 2013 and October 2013, respectively. The deliverables from the ESIA and Preparation of RAP included 1) Scoping Report; 2) Environmental Impact Statement; 3) Environmental and Social Management Plan; 4) Resettlement Action Plan. The conduct of the study also included comprehensive public consultation and sensitization exercises. The ESIA funded by this Project can be accessed here:http://mtcoffeeliberia.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/FINAL-MtCoffee_ESIA-Rep-12-10-16-FOR-PUBLICATION_sm2.pdf |
