Description
Description | The project involves the design and construction of a new water treatment plant (WTP) and ancillary infrastructure in the rural community of Mount Lorne. The facility will produce potable water to meet the current and future domestic needs of the area’s residents and to provide a safe and reliable drinking water supply to the adjacent Lorne Mountain Community Centre (LMCC). The water treatment process will be designed to meet Yukon’s Drinking Water Regulations and is expected to include filtration, disinfection, and treated water storage. Water will be sourced from a previously drilled water well on the site. Water distribution will be via a public-facing self-serve filling station on the exterior of the building and via a piped water service connection to the LMCC. The WTP is expected to provide 1 L/s design flow of potable water, pending final design. The proposed WTP building will be approx. 10m x 15m and will house the treatment process equipment and supplies; the building systems; and will also feature space, facilities and equipment for use by the operational staff. Other expected site improvements include but are not limited to: clearing, grading, and landscaping; access road and parking; fencing; lighting; on-site sewage disposal; backwash water management infrastructure; electrical and communication utilities; and other appurtenant infrastructure. The buried water service connection to the LMCC will include freeze protection and may require additional improvements at the LMCC property. |
