Mount Pleasant Power Line Undergrounding Project

Mount Pleasant leaders have allocated millions of dollars to move power lines underground to reduce outages and improve reliability. The project is funded through a partnership with Dominion Energy, with around $5 million currently available. However, the projects face delays due to high costs, lack of neighbor agreement, and difficulty securing space. One project along Mathis Ferry Road is under construction, while another near Ben Sawyer Boulevard and Rifle Range Road is in the design phase. Town leaders are working on a long-term plan to prioritize areas for undergrounding.
