Description
Description | The Mount Van Hoevenberg Olympic Sports Complex is an already-built Olympic sports complex featuring ski trails, a bobsled-luge track, hiking, and mountain biking opportunities. It is located on a mix of town and state forest preserve lands outside the village of Lake Placid, New York. The complex has historical significance as a venue for the 1932 and 1980 Winter Olympics and other international winter sports events. The project involves a constitutional amendment to retroactively authorize the complex on state forest preserve lands and requires the state to acquire at least 2,500 acres of new forest land to add to the forest preserve as an offset. |
