In March 2010, the Government of Angola confirmed the partial divestiture of 80% of Movicel to a group of five private sponsors announced in 2009.
Movicel was created in 2003 as the mobile telephony arm of the national telecoms company, Angola Telecom.
Post the transaction the shareholding in the group was as follows:
State companies retained ownership of 20%: Correios Telegrafos de Angola (2%)

Post the transaction the shareholding in the group was as follows: State companies retained ownership of 20%: Correios Telegrafos de Angola (2%) Angola Telecom (18%) The remaining 80% belonged to the following private companies: Porturil - Investimentos (40%) Modus Comicare - Comunicacoes e Imagem, Lda (19%) Ipang - Industria de Papel e Derivados (10%) Lambda - Investment (6%) Novatel SA (5%) |
