Moving Archer Forward Plan

The Moving Archer Forward plan is a high-level vision plan created by the Chicago Department of Planning and Development and the Regional Transportation Authority. It focuses on improving safety, stations, and equitable transit-oriented development (eTOD) along a 6.5-mile corridor of Archer Avenue between Halsted Street and Cicero Avenue in Chicago. The plan includes recommendations for better lighting, wider sidewalks, upgraded pedestrian signals, curb extensions, traffic calming, trees, planters, shaded seating, and clearer wayfinding, as well as concepts for improved access and plazas at Orange Line stations. It identifies 31 possible eTOD sites for future development supporting homes, retail, and jobs. The plan does not prescribe a specific street redesign or roadway reconfiguration and serves as a framework for future projects and decisions.
