Moving towards 50% reduction in pesticide dependency

Pesticide Action Network (PAN) is a network of over 600 non-governmental organisations, institutions and individuals in over 60 countries worldwide. PAN projects and campaigns are coordinated by five autonomous Regional Centres: Europe, North America, South America, Asia-Pacific and Africa. PAN Europe is the regional centre in Europe. PAN Europe’s main objectives are to promote EU policy and legislation to reduce dependency on pesticide inputs, promote sustainable alternatives, raise awareness on the dangers of exposure to pesticides for health and the environment, and provide expertise for better implementation and further development of EU legislation and policies. PAN Europe was founded in 1987. Today, PAN Europe network consists of 47 members - consumers, public health, and environment protection organisations, women's groups, and educational associations - from 28 European countries of which 23 in the EU. PAN Europe is the voice of the European citizens concerned about pesticides. PAN Europe is the only NGO operating at EU level which is dedicated to tackling the problems caused by pesticides, promoting safe and sustainable alternatives, and providing a counterweight to a strong industry influence. PAN Europe supports the move towards a non-toxic environment, by promoting the end of the pesticide use in urban and rural areas. Expertise: PAN Europe is the reference point on pesticides for leading EU and national press, policy makers, and other partners and stakeholders. PAN Europe has long and outstanding technical and scientific expertise, covering several aspects of pesticide related policies, including but not limited to: impacts on biodiversity and ecosystems, public health (occupational, bystander and dietary exposure), resource efficiency, alternatives to pesticides.
