Mozambique - Electricity Master Plan Study

The proposed Electricity Master Plan together with the ongoing ‘Rural Electrification Strategic Plan for Mozambique’ study and ‘Mepanda Uncua and Cahora Bassa North Project Feasibility Study’ will provide the Government a comprehensive Least Cost Investment Plan (LCIP) for the power sub-sector in the medium-to-short term. The availability of the LCIP will enable the Government to implement project on rational basis, and mobilise investment capital to advance electrification. The Bank, through the proposed intervention, will therefore assist the Government to put the necessary ground for advancing electrification for socio-economic development. The study will involve (a) technical studies (load forecast, network configuration, load flow and stability analyses, and LDC configuration); (b) crosscutting issues analyses (environmental, poverty reduction and gender mainstreaming), (c) investment and operational cost analyses; (d) institutional and tariff structure analyses, and (e) funding sources analyses.
