The Mozambique Digital Acceleration Project aims to expand broadband access, promote digital inclusion, and accelerate nationwide digital transformation by investing in core digital foundations and enablers.Component 1 — Digital Access and Inclusion increases access so more Mozambicans can participate in the digital economy and society. It is designed to (i) make Mozambique more attractive and competitive for digital investment and (ii) expand the availability, affordability, and uptake of digital services and technologies—especially in rural and underserved areas. Interventions address both the supply side (market reforms to boost access and affordability, plus targeted last-mile coverage) and the demand side (digital literacy and digital device schemes that lower barriers and expand demand for digital services).Component 2 — Foundations for Accelerated Digital Transformation builds critical enablers for government, the economy, and future jobs by: (i) expanding secure, high-capacity government connectivity and deploying essential IT equipment to priority ministries and service points so institutions can deliver and scale digital services reliably; (ii) strengthening trust and security for data and online transactions through improved government capacity on data protection and cybersecurity; and (iii) leveraging connectivity and digital technologies in education to improve learning outcomes and equip students with digital skills.Component 3 — Project Management, Institutional Coordination, and Citizen Engagement strengthens implementation capacity, inter-institutional coordination, and citizen engagement.Component 4 — Contingent Emergency Response enables rapid reallocation of uncommitted funds to respond to eligible crises or emergencies; it was activated to rehabilitate roads and bridges following Cyclone Freddy.
