Mozambique Rovuma LNG Gas Terminal Project

A $30 billion gas terminal project in Mozambique led by ExxonMobil, aimed at developing LNG infrastructure in the Cabo Delgado province. The project faces delays and security challenges due to an intensifying Islamist insurgency in the region. ExxonMobil signed memorandums of understanding with the Mozambican government to establish a training centre and advance local energy projects, but a public announcement was cancelled due to security concerns. TotalEnergies is also involved with a rival $20 billion LNG project in the same region, which has resumed despite violence and security risks.
