Description | The project entails the construction of a hydro power station in the Tete province of Mozambique situated along the Zambezi River, 61km downstream from Cahora Bassa. Phase I of the project is estimated to provide 1,500 MW generating capacity with Phase II adding a further 900 MW of capacity. The plant is mid merit and will be able to provide both peak and off peak power. The plant is expected to be able to supply approximately 850 MW of firm power. The electricity generated is expected to be transported down the CESUL transmission line. The proje's anchor customers are expected to be EDM (10% to 20% of offtake) and a power utility of a neighbouring country. |
