MPX Energia, a subsidiary of EBX Capital Partners [Brazil, 100%] was responsible for the construction and operation of a solar power plant with capacity of 1 MW located at the state of Ceara. This was the first solar power plant to be connected and sell energy to the national grid. Total project cost was approximately US $6.1 million (BRL 10 million). Construction works commenced in March 2010 and were 65% complete by December 2010. The project was delayed several times before becoming operational in May 2011. In September 2013, EBX sold part of its ownership in MPX, the subsidiary of EBX Capital Partners responsible for managing the group's energy projects.
