Mrima Hill Rare Earth Minerals Mining Project

A US-backed consortium, the Mrima Earth Consortium, has submitted a proposal to the National Mining Corporation to mine and process the multi-trillion-shilling rare earths and niobium deposits at Mrima Hill in Kwale County, Kenya. The project aims to develop the resource in stages with a focus on value-added processing within Kenya, including knowledge transfer, skills development, and long-term job creation. The project is expected to inject billions of dollars into Kenya's economy and support downstream industrialisation.
