MSCC Energy and Accessibility Retrofit

This project achieves energy efficiency and GHG emission reductions through measures aligned with asset renewal. It increases accessibility, inclusivity, and improves the facility for communities around Moses Springer Community Centre (MSCC). Energy/GHG reductions are achieved by electrification of (natural) gas heating systems, energy recovery, lighting, controls, and new roofing. Accessibility and inclusivity is enhanced with a new universal washroom, and automatic door operators. Community service offering is increased with a new arena dehumidifier with air conditioning. Dehumidification improves arena space conditions when ice is in, which experiences fogging and condensation, creating an uncomfortable experience for visitors. Air conditioning allows summer camps and programs to operate when ice is out. These collective upgrades will provide improved and enhanced services to vulnerable community members in Waterloo city, including people with disabilities.
