Description

The Msikaba Bridge is part of the South African National Road Agency (Sanral) N2 Wild Coast Road project. Construction started in 2019 and it is expected to be the largest cable-stayed bridge in South Africa. The bridge spans the Msikaba River between Lusikisiki and Port St Johns in the Eastern Cape and aims to reduce travel time for heavy freight by three hours. It will be the third-tallest bridge in Africa, standing 195 metres tall with 128-metre-high pylons and stretching over 580 metres. The project has faced delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic, steel industry issues, and other challenges, with no new completion date set yet.
