In May 2011, a consortium of Construtora Locatelli (50%) e Argesil Armazens Gerais e Silos Itaquere (50%) won a 28-year contract with the state of Mato Grosso to expand, rehabilitate and operate of 122 km of the MT-030 Highway in the state of Mato Grosso (the section connecting the cities of Rondonopolis and Primavera do Leste, where the BR-070 Highway commences). The winning consortium beat another bidder by offering the lowest toll rate. The sponsors committed to invest US$ 73.5 million (BRL 120 million) during the life of the concession. The concession contract was signed in July 2011 with the special purpose company created to manage the project (Morro da Mesa Concessionaria S.A.), after which the concessionaire began the initial construction works. In February 2014, the state-owned bank BNDES approved a US$ 14.9 million (BRL 35 million) loan to the project.
