Description

Description

Located at 2140 Brownsea Drive NW, Calgary, the Multidisciplinary Disability and Community Arts Hub (MDCAH) is a groundbreaking initiative and the first of its kind in North America. Building on the 46+ year legacy of the National accessArts Centre, the MDCAH will foster creativity and inclusivity, setting a new standard for accessible arts spaces in Canada. The net-zero carbon and multidisciplinary arts hub will be completely dedicated to supporting talented artists living with developmental and/or physical disabilities while providing digital spaces for online content and training programs to communities across Canada. This new construction draws on the 46+ year legacy of the National accessArts Centre organization and its programming that is dedicated to artists living with disabilities, as well as our architect partners at DIALOG who have spent 3+ years observing, monitoring, and working alongside our artist community to gain an intimate knowledge and understanding of the various needs demonstrated by our artist community. This hub will house public presentation spaces, a gallery, and social enterprise opportunities that will greatly increase the NaAC’s interaction with the general public -- thereby increasing its awareness of the infinite creative potential of our community.
