The main objectives of LAWYEREX 2 will be the following: a) to enhance EU lawyers' practical knowledge of other legal systems in Europe through direct contacts, increase in knowledge and sharing of experiences with their counterparts in 9 different EU Member States; b) to contribute to the development of a European judicial culture based on mutual trust between lawyers, bars and law firms and to the consolidation of cross-border networks of lawyers in the EU; c) to provide continuity to the first European multilateral exchange scheme for lawyers, which was set up by other EU-funded projects, MULTILAW in 2017 and LAWYEREX as from 2019 (on the basis of the scheme used by EJTN for the exchange of judges and prosecutors); d) to contribute to the fundamental right of equality of arms between legal professionals by offering the same training opportunities to lawyers as the ones already available for judges and prosecutors and e) to help the EU achieve its objective of having, by 2024, 15% of lawyers reached by continuous training on EU law each year. The main project activity will be the exchange of 124 lawyers among 9 EU Member States, who will be placed in host institutions (law firms or bars) for a period of 2 weeks and according to their profile, spoken languages and preferences. The main target group of this project will be lawyers (124) as the largest category of EU legal practitioners by number. Participants will be qualified lawyers with up to 7 years of professional experience coming from 9 different EU Member States. The main result of the project will be the continuation of a well-established and fully operational exchange scheme for lawyers in the EU, which is highly-rated and highly-regarded by all participating lawyers, law firms and Bars who have taken part in its previous editions. Besides, lawyers who are more connected and better trained in other EU legal systems will defend the rights of citizens and businesses more effectively in cross-border cases.
